FAQs
On average, most groups spend in the region of 45-60 minutes in our building. If the venue is quiet and you are a small group it is possible it is closer to 30-40 minutes.
You can book your ticket online here, or you can call to talk to one of us on 01273 964000
You can cancel up to three days before for a full refund or postponement without any penalty. Between 1-3 days postponement is possible for free but there would be an admin charge on cancellations. Less than 24 hours notice there are no refunds or rebookings available.
No, your ticket buys you entry to the entire building and you can visit the exhibits in any order you want, and at your own pace.
Absolutely all ages! It is a very family friendly attraction and we encourage children and grown-ups of all ages to get involved in the photos. We have pram parking and baby changing stations on the ground floor, so we enthusiastically welcome even the youngest visitors. Please be prepared to carry them if they are not yet walking because the main galleries are all up or down stairs and so are not accessible with prams.
It is important to note that the building is currently not wheelchair friendly. The main galleries are all accessible via stairs. We are hoping to change this in the future and offer better accessibility but we can’t yet sadly.
We are working hard so that people with many different disabilities can enjoy our exhibits. Please refer to our Accessibility page to see more information about access around the building, or give us a call on 01273 964000 – we are more than happy to provide any information that might help you.
Sadly the main galleries are not accessible with prams and pushchairs. We have pram parking and baby changing stations on the ground floor, so we enthusiastically welcome even the youngest visitors, but please be prepared to carry them if they are not yet walking.
Unfortunately not. Our building is a beautiful old Victorian saw mill and we very much wanted to install a lift but sadly the layout of the building did not allow this. We hope to install chair lifts in the future but they are not yet in. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or to find out more about the accessibility of the building. You can also find out more information on our Accessibility page.
Yes, gift vouchers and gift tickets are available to purchase here. Both are valid for five years.
Yes, guest WiFi is available throughout the building and it’s free!
We sadly do not allow dogs in our building, except guide dogs.
Yes please, we not only allow but actively encourage you to take pictures of all our exhibits. You can also ask our team members to take a photo for you, if you are comfortable with this. Hand sanitiser is provided throughout the building to enable safe handling of devices.
Covid-19 Safety
Yes, whilst it is still mandatory, you will need to wear face coverings during your entire visit and our staff will do the same to help keep everyone safe. If you are exempt from face covering, please be prepared to provide proof of this.
Yes, our toilets are open for use. They are regularly sanitised with Zoono which has been shown to protect surfaces from Covid-19, on top of our regular cleaning procedure. Only half the sinks are in use to enable social distancing and we ask you to let other people leave before entering the toilet area.
The key changes we’ve made are as follows:
– We’ve reduced our capacity and put in bigger gaps between games. This means there will never be more than one team in reception at once and we can manage our venue so that teams don’t bump into each other.
– For the time being you will not be given the backstory of your game live by one of our actors inside the room. The intro speeches will be pre-recorded and played over a video screen before your game.
– All of our rooms, props and puzzles have been sprayed with Zoono which covid cannot survive on, so it is safe to touch everything in the room.
– Fresh air ventilation and HEPA filter air purifiers will be running all day every day to refresh the air in the rooms between every game.
– We can not allow more than six people in any one team and for the duration we are in ‘Tier 2’, teams must be from the same household.
– Hand washing or hand sanitiser use will be compulsory before and after your game. Plus we will have hand sanitiser stations inside every game room that we recommend using during play.
– We carry out temperature checks on staff when they come in.
– We have minimised the number of objects shared between staff and players.
